Nashville Scene: Sound Therapy Reunion Critics’ Pick
Published in Upcoming Shows.
We’re fortunate to live in a world that has started paying attention to Music City hip-hop. But back in the Aughts, long before the likes of Mike Floss, Starlito and Dee Goodz were getting national press, SoundTherapy was one of the best shots a local MC had at getting heard. What began as an all-vinyl night hosted by DJs A7, Magnetic and friends quickly snowballed into a full-blown artist showcase that ran weekly for more than four years. AL-D, one of our scene’s top boosters and a fine MC and producer who honed his skills at SoundTherapy, is hosting a special edition of his Meant for the Milk Crate series to pay tribute. A slew of SoundTherapy alumni is on deck, including A7, Magnetic and Stones, B. Cooper and more, plus 10-minute sets from a shedload of up-and-coming hip-hop, R&B and spoken-word talents.
