The Nashville Fringe Festival exists to celebrate the diversity of Nashville artists & to honor the legends among us who enrich our city and inspire our lives. This month we’re sharing news & offerings from several friends from around town.

The Fringe Radio Show with E.T. and AL-D

Each and every Monday night the Fringe Radio Show takes the airwaves on Radio Free Nashville to host and promote a wide variety of music. Check out our archives, which include programs dating back to 2013, or take a look back with us at some of the great Nashville talent that has appeared on the show during the month of June in years gone by: Weston (2019), BEZ (2017), D’Llisha Davis (2017), Amerigo Gazaway (2016), and local selections curated by villin (2022).

This month we’re switching it up a bit to look back at how the Fringe began. The Nashville Fringe Festival kicked off in June of 2010 with its first events held across the city at Simon Ripley’s Music & Art, W.O. Smith Music School and The Basement. Photos from those first shows are available here, along with a video of Bullfrog Revue live at The Basement.

The 2011 edition featured performers at The Basement, Cafe Coco, Bongo Java After Hours Theatre, Rocketown, the Listening Room & Exit/In. Photos from the Exit/In show are available here.

And for the 2012 installment, Fringe events took over 12th & Porter, Mad Donna’s, Centennial Park, the Listening Room, Exit/In, Nin48Jazz, the East Side Co-Op, Family Wash, the Rutledge, Global Education Center & the Hard Rock Cafe. Photos from the Hard Rock event are available here.

YEAH! Summer Jam is an inclusive summer day camp for youth of all backgrounds ages 10-17 held in Nashville, TN. Sign up for the program is now open – or if you’re interested in getting involved as a volunteer, you can do so here.

• Musician’s Corner continues its run this month with shows every weekend through June 17 in Centennial Park!
• 2023 Ode to Otha takes place June 3. Ode to Otha is one street party you will not want to miss. Featuring live musical performances, this event, hosted by Bill Ramsey, celebrates Otha Turner’s lifetime of music and his legacy.
• Concurrence returns to Rudy’s Jazz Room June 2. Get details and tickets here.
• Dara Starr Tucker is hosting an album release show June 3 at Rudy’s. Tickets and details are available here.
• Swing through the Basement East June 6 for Kendell Marvel’s Honky Tonk Experience.
• Shannon Williford is returning to town for JamBand Summer Camps 2023, a creative and inspirational music camp for ages 8-18, located in Centennial Park. This will run June 12-16 and July 10-14. Sign up here.
• Jeremy Lister is celebrating the 10 year anniversary of The Bed You Made with a June 23 show at the Eastside Bowl. Get tickets here.
• June 23 will also see Tommy Prine swinging through Grimey’s for an in-store performance and signing. Get more details here.
• The Equity Alliance’s Black on Buchanan Juneteenth Block Party is going down June 17.
• Jason Isbell will be at Grimey’s June 9 for an album signing.
• Skylar Gregg, Stephie James, and Nicole Boggs & the Reel will be at the Basement June 15.
